Celebrate the Holidays at Disney’s Contemporary Resort

2014 Gingerbread Display

We just love the holidays at Walt Disney World – the theme parks are decked out in their Christmas decor, delicious food and drinks options are everywhere, and the resort hotels have decked the halls and then some.

The Contemporary is no slouch when it comes to decorating for Christmas – after all it is home to one of the most popular gingerbread displays on property. This year’s display is all about ‘Frozen’ (of course!) and is set up in front of the Mary Blair mural.

The gingerbread display was created with: 311 pounds of honey, 514 pounds of flour, 212 eggs, 67 pounds of spices, 35 pounds of sugar syrup, 222 pounds of icing, 423 pounds of chocolate, and more than 1,500 gingerbread shingles. Guests can also search for 14 hidden Olafs!

In addition to the gingerbread display the Contemporary is also home to the giant Mickey Mouse shaped wreath displayed in the windows of the hotel. You can’t miss it as you zoom through on the Monorail.

Of course we can’t forget about the resort’s Christmas trees and other festive decorations too!

And if you’re in the mood for a holiday cupcake, we suggest stopping by Contemporary Grounds where you’ll likely find one or two (or more) specialty cupcakes throughout the holidays. (It’s also a good place to find specialty cupcakes year round!)

You can check out all the photos of this year’s gingerbread display – and the yummy treats – over at the Disney Food Blog! Thanks to the Disney Food Blog for the photo of the display!
