Contemporary Resort Pools

Disney's Contemporary Resort pools don't get their fair share of the spotlight in our opinion. When people talk pools in Disney, they always mention Uzima Springs at Animal Kingdom Lodge or Stormalong Bay at the Yacht and Beach Clubs, which are both great pools, but I haven't found any pool as relaxing and rejuvenating as those at the Contemporary. So I figured it would be fun to do a blog post highlighting these little oases of relaxation!

Contemporary Resort Tower vs. Garden Wing

View From Tower Room

Here's a question that stumps even the most seasoned Disney World visitor: do you choose the tower room or the garden wing at Disney's Contemporary Resort? While we all enjoy luxury and convenience, we also have to think about our budgets -- and it's not as though everything else in Disney World is cheap!

When you book a room in Disney's Contemporary Resort or Bay Lake Tower, there's often a difficult decision to make: do you want the Theme Park View or the Bay Lake View?

Contemporary Resort Breakfast Options

One of the most common questions we get is about how to fuel up before a long day in the parks!

Chef Mickey's In the Morning Light

Luckily, Disney's Contemporary Resort has lots of dining options for that most important meal of the day -- both table-service and quick service:

Disney Contemporary Resort Monorail

Contemporary Monorail Station

One of the biggest benefits to staying in Disney's Contemporary Resort and Bay Lake Tower is the opportunity to have quick access to the monorail. And what makes it cooler than other "monorail resorts" is that at the Contemporary, the monorail track literally goes through the Disney Contemporary Resort!

Mary Blair Mural

The mural in Disney's Contemporary Resort, created by Mary Blair, one of Walt Disney's favorite artists and Walt Disney Animator, is one of the best-known works of art in Florida. Blair is best known for creating concept art Alice in Wonderland, Peter Pan, Song of the South, and Cinderella, and for styling the attraction "it's a small world."

Christmas at the Contemporary Resort

The Holidays are always a special time at Disney's Contemporary Resort. The hotel is decked out in Tomorrowland-esque seasonal spirit and a huge, stylized Mickey wreath is lit up every night in the huge picture window of the Grand Canyon Concourse.

Learning the Nautical Alphabet at The Sand Bar

Not everyone can say they've learned a nautical alphabet while waiting for their Mai Tai, but you can!

The Sand Bar, Disney's Contemporary Resort's poolside bar, has a nautical theme. On the wall to your left as you enter the Sand Bar, you'll notice an alphabet created by placing flags in different positions relative to the human body.

This alphabet, called "Semaphore," is a way for sailors to communicate from ship to ship!
